Boy Howdy

Howdy all and welcome!

To those of you who are new, I would like to welcome you all to the LOUDEST and Proudest Tennis Club in the Nation. I hope you all find the The Club to be as welcoming and as friendly as I have found it to be. As our very own Cameron Byrd expressed at the informational, "This is what high school tennis should have been." For those returning members, I am glad to have you back!

We have a few things coming up soon so listen up and look carefully!

Starting this week is our first practice of the semester so be sure to show up and get ready for games and drills! Remember practices have changed to Wednesdays and Thursdays, 7-9 pm. We will have our card reader there for those of you who want to pay dues for the year. This year's dues are $75 if paid by September 10th, $80 if paid by September 22nd, and after that, dues will be $85. We take cash, card, credit, and you can pay online through our website, link located below.

Our ranking tournament will be in two weeks, on Saturday, September 23rd. You can sign up for 2 of the 3 events, singles, doubles, and mixed. Just know that for ranking purposes, mixed will not be weighted as much as doubles or singles.

The Saturday after, on September 30th, we have a TOC tournament in Arlington so  keep your eyes open for the sign up sheet on Facebook from our Competitive Officers. We also have a tournament the Saturday after that, October 7th so if you cannot make Arlington, do not fret, you'll have a set! (sorry)

More importantly ladies and gents, I want you guys to have a great semester so if you have any issues or anything, we have a great group of officers here to answer your questions.

As always, Thanks and Gig 'Em! Let's BTHO Nichols and Fall '17!

These informationals are mainly for new, incoming members but you are all welcome to come and share to them about the Club and what it means to you. We won't be having a booth for Tennis Club at the MSC Open House but we will be handing out flyers.

Also, we will be starting our practices next week on Wednesday, September 6th. Our practice times have changed and we will now be having practice Wednesdays and Thursdays, 7-9 pm.

Our Ranking Tournament will be held September 23rd-24th. As of right now, you can sign up for two events out of singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. It will be held at the Intramural Courts across Reed Arena. Our challenge rules have also changed slightly so make sure you look at the updated rules, located on our website. If you like the way it looks, don't forget to give a shout out to our historians, Nicole "Kitty" Ballas, Hector Pleitez, and Dylan Ritter.

The following Saturday, September 30th, we will be attending our first TOC Tournament in Arlington. The Saturday after, we will be attending the Beaumont Tournament, too. I hope you're ready, because we have nonstop tournaments coming up so be sure to be attentive and sign up!

Membership dues will be $75 for early registration if paid by September 10th, $80 for on time on September 22nd, and $85 for any time after that. We will have card readers and computers for dues at the informational and at practice next week, so be sure to be ready to pay.

Sectionals is Here!!! And Big Event Sign-up

Howdy

Last two practices before sectionals are tonight (6-8pm) and tomorrow (7-9pm) at the intramural courts.

Sectionals begins this Friday in Austin. Captains, if you haven't contacted all of your team members please do so ASAP! Also make sure everyone has a ride to Austin and a place to stay for the weekend.

For those of you who've never played at Sectionals, the tournament format is different than all of the other TOC tournaments. Every team is placed in a pool with three other teams and y'all will play a round robin. Your win percentage after pool play determines which bracket you will play in on Saturday and Sunday. Regardless, everyone is going to get a ton of match play.

Team members on Friday check-in an hour before there match time with the signed personal release form and either your student ID or a copy of your spring schedule. I have attached the personal release form in the email. If you know you will be traveling later in the day, you will have to check in late and most likely miss the first match or two.

If you haven't seen the check-in times for Friday, here they are:

Team:                                                    Check-In time

Team One- Do IT BIG                          1:00pm

Team Two- Army of Two                        4:00pm

Team Three- Tres Leches                   1:00pm

Team Four- Team Sexy                         10:30am

Team Five- Drop Shot Divas               10:30am

Team Six- Keys to SixSeis                     1:00pm

Team Seven - Seven Deadly Serves   10:30 am

Team Eight - GOAT                                10:30am

Everyone will be checking in and playing at the Whitaker courts on Friday except Team 1 and Team 3. Those two teams check-in at Austin Tennis Center. Team 8 will check-in at Whitaker and then move to play at ATC.

This Sunday is the final to sign-up with the club for Big Event.
Sign-up closes Feb. 17th @ 5pm
Sign-Up Link: https://bigeventonline.tamu.edu/
Group access code to sign up with the tennis club: 734E2-00664

For those who don't know much about the Big Event:

Since its introduction in 1982, The Big Event has become the largest, one-day, student-run service project in the nation. Each spring, tens of thousands of Texas A&M students come together to say "Thank You" to the residents of Bryan and College Station. For the past 33 years, Aggie students have participated in this annual event to show their appreciation to the surrounding community, completing service projects such as yard work, window washing, and painting for residents of the community. Although The Big Event has become the largest one-day, student-run service project in the nation, our message and our mission remains the same – to simply say "Thank You."

I'll see y'all at practice. Let's play well, have fun with each other this weekend and represent Texas A&M with pride.

Have a great day

Practice canceled

Practice canceled for today

Practice Starts Today!!!...hopefully

Howdy,

Welcome to a new semester! Let's hope this one will be better than the last!

Today is the first day of practice, 6-8 pm at the intramural courts. Tomorrow practice is from 7-9. If it is still wet we will let y'all know if practice will be canceled.

Waco warm up tournament is on January 28th. Sign up for Waco warm up tournament is on the facebook page. Remember, if you have yet to play a TOC tournament and want to play at sectionals, you must play at Waco in order to be eligible to play at sectionals. Deadline for Waco signup is this Sunday (Jan 22) at 6 pm.

Sectionals is a three day tournament in Austin on February 17-19. Sign up is also on the facebook page and deadline to sign up is January 28 at 6pm. Please realize that if you sign up you are committing yourself for three days and are prepared to miss class on Friday, February 19.

Also, we are having an open tournament ( similar to ranking tournament in the fall) on February 4-5. Check out Cameron Byrd's post on the facebook page, he has attached a link for sign up. Deadline to sign up is January 29 at 6pm.

Spring Semester Tournaments

Howdy!

Much like the fall, tennis club will hit the ground running. Practices will start the first week of classes on Wednesday and Thursday (Jan 18th an 19th). For the paid members who didn't get their shirt in the fall, we have shirts for y'all to pick up at the first week of practice. Also remember classes start on Tuesday January 17 rather than Monday because the university will be closed to observe MLK day.

There are three tournaments coming up:

January 28 Waco warm up (TOC tournament)
February 4 Club tournament
February 17-19 Sectionals (Austin)

Sectionals is our big tournament of the year, 3 days and two nights in Austin, and lots of tennis. February 4 will be our own tournament which will be a very similar set up to the intraclub tournament in the fall.

Waco warm-up is the last TOC tournament before sectionals. This is important because you must play in one TOC tournament to be eligible to play at sectionals. So if you didn't play in a TOC tournament in the fall but you would like to play at sectionals, you must play at the Waco warm up tournament. Our club tournament on February 4 and the intraclub tournament in September are not TOC tournaments and do not count towards your eligibility for sectionals.

There will be additional details provided for each event as we approach them.

I hope everyone is enjoying their break! Happy New Year!
