Teams/Lineup

Hey Guys,

I've thrown together 6 guys teams and 1 girls team.  The Challenges will NOW BEGIN!!  You can only challenge one team up. (So if you aren't on a team, you need to challenge people on team 6).  Please allow a couple days for the guy to play the match.  If you are challenged, you have to play the match or else you will forfeit your spot on the team.  Challenges will end and the teams are finalized come sectionals.  I will send a more detail list of rules later, but for now you guys can start challenging for spots.

On a side note or my disclaimer, there is a very real possibility that my judgment on the players on each team may have been incorrect so please be understanding and allow the challenge system sort the teams in the best possible way.  Also, for sectionals, we are really trying to bring more than 6 teams, so if you plan on playing tournaments with us especially sectionals, please reply to this email stating that you will play.  Girls, we will of course have more than just 1 team, but we need to find who all is committed to playing tournaments this semester so we can again assemble more teams.  At any rate, you all can start challenging.

Sorry for this terrible writing, so if you have questions/comments, always feel free to ask me or any of the other officers.

Have a Great Rest of the Week!

Soong Hay Tam
Competition Officer

P.S. If you are on a team, but you know you cannot play, then please let me know as well.

reminder

Howdy Yinz!!

Just a reminder: practice tonight at 8. It's a theme night so wear your old high school uniforms. If you don't have your high school uniform be creative and wear old school tennis clothes: short shorts and wooden racquets if you wish.

BTHO TEXAS!!!!!!!!!

RECAP AND WEDNESDAY

Howdy Yinz!!!

Hey y'all just to recap in case you missed it: our boys did it big against boise state thanks to some big wins in singles from connor pollick and austin krajicek!!  It's a great win and a good start to the 08 season for the men.

WEDNESDAY IS THE FIRST THEME NIGHT OF THE SEMESTER!! This wednesday 8-11 it's high school uniform night.  I know all of yinz have those old high school uniforms that you keep in the back of your clothes drawer.  It's time to dust them off and rep your high school alma mater for a few hours.  If you don't have your high school uniform just wear some old fashioned tennis polo or something.  Be creative!  Cya guys wednesday and good luck to the men's bball team in sawing off varsity's horns wednesday night.

Thanks and gig 'em,
Matt Kravits

BTHO BOISE STATE

Howdy Yinz!!!!

Fresh off an impressive 6-1 Victory over Clemson, the FTA  number 25 ranked Men's tennis team faces off with number 22 ranked Boise State tomorrow Sunday January 27, 2008 at 1 PM.  A significant reason our tennis teams have such great attendence is because of our national champ tennis club. So we need to continue our part of the 12th man tradition and go support our boys against Boise State tomorrow at 1PM.

Also, it's worth mentioning again that we have had the best attendence in the nation in past years but starting this year the NCAA is taking OFFICIAL counts of attendence, so we must uphold out awesome attendence despite other schools stepping up theirs also.

IMPORTANT:  Practice does not start at 4 PM tomorrow.  Since we are all going to support our boys against Boise State, PRACTICE WIL START IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE COMPLETION OF THE MATCH--NOT AT 4 PM.

Thanks and gig 'em,
Matt Kravits

BTHO CLEMSON

Howdy Yinz!!

It's fighting texas aggie men's varsity tennis time. Tomorrow Friday January 25, 2008 at 5 PM, the 25th ranked men's tennis team plays unranked Clemson University.  come out with the FTA tennis club and help the men's tennis team get off to a good start for the 2008 season.

In case you didn't know, varsity tennis here at Texas A&M has had the largest unofficial attendence in the nation!! The only problem with this is that the NCAA has never made attendence official.  As the Texas A&M tennis club, we need to continue our outstanding support for varsity tennis so that people will see that the 12th man is OFFICIALLY the best and largest support any school can ask for.

Oh and by the way, the first 200 people at this match get a free Texas A&M beanie!! Not that we need that to help us support our team.

Thanks and Gig 'Em,
Matthew Kravits

CLUB TIME and UNIFORMS

Howdy,

We under the unfortunate conditions of extreme cold put ourselves at the mercy of mother nature to play tennis against all odds and tonight we continue that tradition. As long as there is no precipitation we will be meeting at 8 at the intramural courts.

Uniform money is due by Sunday, if you do not hurry and act you will lose this deal forever so please bring your 10$ to Jill tonight. Also the uniforms will be there for yall to try on.

Thanks and gig-em

Uniform sign-up... any future writers in the group?

Howdy-

So the sign up for the uniforms is now online at our website. Remember if you place your order, we need your money by Sun, Feb 27.

Also... got an opportunity for ya- CollegeClubTennis is looking for a writer to cover the Texas Sectionals here in College Station on Feb 29-Mar 2. The article will be posted online, read by millions... and would go great on some sort of communication major's resume. Let me know if you are interested...

Thanks.

Tennis Club Pong Time

Howdy Yinz!!!

I had an urge to speak aussie or german but I'm going to leave the accents to our mate b-burge...sorry if you were excited to hear some cool accents.  Thanks to those of you who came out to watch the maroon team own the white team on saturday. It was a pretty exciting match and I'm looking forward to seeing good seasons from the men and the women.

Alright it's almost pong time.  It is more difficult than it may seem to hold an official ping pong tournament, so what we can do is hold one unofficially.  The first ever FIVETIMES TABLE TENNIS TOURNAMENT brought to you by ESPN 8 "The Ocho" and the Aggie Spinvitational is upon us.  If you are interested reply to this email.  I need to know how many pongballers are interested before I can set a date and place.

Other things to look forward to this semester...Dancing at the Hall...More bowling...Paintball...Some kind of social...Movies...Good stuff to come for the FTA National Champion Tennis Club!

Thanks and Gig 'Em,
Matthew Kravits

Maroon and White Tennis Style

Howdy yinz!!

It's nice to see that the cold weather is no match for the FTA Tennis club.  Now it's time for the best tennis club in the nation to go out and support our varsity tennis teams.

This Saturday January 20, 2008 Our men's and women's tennis teams will be having their very own maroon and white matches.  If your not familiar with a maroon and white game, it's where the team is split in half and plays itself.

So put on your tennis club national champs t-shirt and help the varisity teams kick of their seasons.  It's a great chance to catch up with other club members if you didn't get a chance to come out on wednesday.

DETAILS: Lunch wherever we want at 12 or 12:30 PM.  Head to the varsity courts WITH YOUR NATIONAL CHAMPS SHIRTS ON at 1:30 PM and watch some quality tennis.  It's on NATIONAL TV. ok it's not really but if it would get you out there then pretend its on ESPN or something.  Other possible incentive-maybe bonus with Vicki and her KINE class...

Sat, Feb 9, 2008

Howdy-

So the athletic department is putting on a mini-camp before the TAMU v tu basketball game on SAT, FEB 9, from 8:30 - 10:30 am. They have asked most all the varsity teams to set up a "booth" in the "concourse" of Reed Arena for elementary-age community kids. The varsity tennis team will be out of town, so they have asked us to step up.

Here's the catch... we have a tournament on that Saturday in San Antonio.... if you know that you can't or don't want to travel with us to the tournament, but will be around on sat morning in cs and would like to help out, let me know- asap. If playing little kids doesn't excite you... it could be a great line-item in your leadership or volunteer parts of your resume.

See ya'll tonight-

David

Subject: National Girls and Women in Sports Day
To: tamu10s@gmail.com

On Saturday February 9th, prior to the Women's Basketball game at Reed Arena, we will be hosting the "Ultimate Aggie Sport Camp" to celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day.  This event will be open to both girls and boys in our community and will give them exposure to sports that they normally would not have a chance to experience.

We ask that your team have a coach and athletes present for this event.  Each team will be asked to set up a station in the concourse of Reed Arena that can be used for talks or drills with the youth in attendance.  Please be ready by 8:15AM as the doors will open at 8:30AM for the event and will last till 10:00AM.  Please plan on bringing all appropriate equipment needed for your station.  You are encouraged to stay for the Women's Basketball game against Texas that will follow at 11:00AM.

We would love to have all the athletic teams involved!  Please contact Josh Craggs with any questions and/or concerns at jcraggs@athletics.tamu.edu.  Please email and sign-up ASAP to let us know which of your coaches and athletes will be participating.  We are expecting a large number of children from the Bryan/College Station community for this event, and it is a great opportunity to make lifelong fans and make a difference in children's lives.

Thanks!

Welcome back...

Howdy-

So its going to be cold and probably rainy, but tomorrow, Wednesday 8-11p, will be our first scheduled practice for the semester.

We have several tournaments scheduled, the largest of which will be Sectionals... and its happening in Aggieland this year. We will be able to enter as many teams as we can make and we will be making as many teams as we can so definitely mark that weekend down in your calendars.

So here's my shoutout to the 800+ email address we have on our listserv, and the players that read our emails but haven't yet found time to come out to a practice: Tennis club has no attendance requirements.... you practice where, when, and how you want to. Feel free to jump in whenever....

Attached is the latest Tennis on Campus newsletter.

We still have plenty of our maroon NATIONAL CHAMPIONS t-shirts that haven't been picked up.

UNIFORMS: We will be ordering uniforms and they will be here by Sectionals. Unfortunately, Adidas is sold out of all maroon shirts in quantities that we need nationwide until March, which was our first choice, but we will figure something out. Unlike the t-shirts, the uniforms will not be entirely covered by the club....we will sell the entire uniform for $10. There will be a sign up, and you will have to pay soon after. I'll keep yall updated...

Looking way ahead-- we will be having a "parent-play" tournament (father-son, mother-daughter, etc...) on Parent's Weekend... there will be flyers sent out as that gets closer...

Ya, i think thats all... don't study too hard...

David
