TAMU Tennis Club Officer Elections!!

Howdy!
Below is a list of all the people applying for exec positions, and a link to a form where you can vote. Elections will close on 4/20/20, 11:59 PM. Once execs are elected, they will get together and vote on the non-exec positions.
President:
Megan Baxter -
Howdy ags!
My name is Megan Baxter and I am running to be President for our 2020-2021 year! I'll be a senior this year and I'm hoping for it to be the best year yet. In the past, I have served as competition officer and vice-president. Now, I think I am ready to take on some more responsibility. Tennis club has been my escape from busy college life for the last three years. I have made countless memories and friends from tournaments, practices, and SOOO many games of clean winner. I know what this club is capable of, and I hope that I can help create that same experience for each present and future Aggie that chooses to be a part of this crazy family!
Thanks and gig'em!
Megan
Vice President:
Carla Hansen - I would like to run for the position of Vice President because I believe that I can give the Tennis Club the dedication that our members deserve. Many of us have made great friends and experiences while in the Tennis club and I would like to contribute my part in making the club the best it can be. I have numerous ideas about how we can improve the functions of the club that includes updating website information, broader social media, and maybe even some team merchandise. And whether it be making sure you guys have a place to stay during tournaments or talking to that weird USTA lady to organize travels, I will put in the work. If you guys want me to count every individual ball in the tennis basket at practice, I'll do it. If you want me to be your wingwoman at Northgate, I'll probably not do it, but I'll definitely be a lot more inclined to do it if you vote for me.
Reshmi Sen - Howdy y'all! My name is Reshmi Sen and I would be honored to be your Vice President for the 2020-2021 school year. I have been in this club since my sophomore year and I have enjoyed being around a diverse group of people that all love to play tennis. As an officer this past year, I have learned a lot about the work that goes on to organize such a large club and ensure that it runs smoothly, while also meeting a ton of amazing people along the way. As the Vice President, I will support the President, other officers, and more importantly, the members of the club to the best of my abilities so that we have a great year. Since this is my last year, I would love to be able to put my time and effort into a club that I felt, and still feel, completely accepted in! Thanks and Gig em!
Treasurer:
Caleb Rea - Hey guys! My name is Caleb Rea and I'm running to be your treasurer next year. I've been a member for the last three years and have really enjoyed meeting everybody, playing tournaments, and so much clean winner. I was a fundraising officer this year, so I think I have enough experience already to effectively serve as treasurer next year. I hope that as treasurer, I can work with the other officers and manage our funds to create the best possible experience for club members next year. I am committed to doing the best job I can if elected and would really appreciate your vote. Thanks and gig 'em!
Secretary:
Daniel Mehralizadeh - I'm running for secretary because I thought it would be chill and being involved with Club Tennis is always a good time. My email skills are immaculate and I'll be sure to include a gif to brighten up your day✌🏼
Cheers,
Sujay

Officer Elections

Howdy,

I hope everyone has been staying safe and making the most out of a tough situation.

While I did say that the club is essentially on hold for the rest of the semester, we still have one final fun (and necessary) thing left to do!! It's that time of the year again, and we will be opening officer elections for the 2020-2021 school year. There are 4 executive positions: President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. As well as 5 non-executive officers, who are selected by the executive officers: Competition, Fundraising, Social, Creative/Historian, and Recruitment.

Being an officer is a big honor, but an even bigger time commitment. I urge each of you to not only apply, but also to think your choice through - making sure you will have enough time/be up to the task. In the past, we have asked y'all to email in the position you are running for/vote for candidates, but this year we will be trying something different. Below is a link to apply for officer positions, and the last day to apply will be 4/10/2020, 11:59 PM. We will then send out another link with all the candidates, and you will be able to vote for each position from 4/11/2020 - 4/18/2020. Below is also a link to a description for each officer position. Please note that you must have been a club member for a year in to run for a non-executive position. If you're running for an executive position, then you must have been a non-executive officer before OR have been an active member for 2 years.

Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions over the process/what each officer does! Hoping this is a welcome distraction from everything going on :)

Sectionals Feb 21-Feb 23

Howdy,

This will be our last TOC event this year and also the biggest of the year! Unlike the other tournaments, this will be a 3 day tournament starting Friday and ending Sunday. If you have class Friday but still want to play you can get your absence excused! To sign up for this tournament it is required to have played at least one tournament already. All of the TOC tournaments and this past weekend counts toward that but not the ranking tournament. Hope to see y'all there!

TOC Sectionals Info!!

Howdy,
This might be long but bear with me. With sectionals coming up in a month, I figured I should give ya'll some info about it:
  • Sectionals will be held February 28-March 1 (Friday-Sunday). If you have questions about the Friday part, feel free to message me or talk to me at the courts.
  • The deadline for initiating a challenge match will be Feb 2. You can find more information about challenging here: https://tamutennisclub.wixsite.com/tennis/challenge-ladder ....but pretty much, you have a week to play your match once you challenge. The reason his deadline is much earlier before actually playing sectionals is because the deadline to sign up for sectionals is Feb 8, 11:59 pm (we will post a sign up link within the next week).
  • In order to be eligible to play sectionals, you must have participated in at least one prior tournament (ranking tournament does not count). Good ways to become eligible if you haven't already played are: Cstat tournament (2/1-2/2) & UNT Club Tournament (2/22).

ALSO: The deadline to sign up for the College Station tournament will be Jan 29th! Here's the link to that:https://forms.gle/ZrJgDYdFXvX4p8CG7

College Station Tournament

Howdy,

Hope the semester has been going well for ya'll, but guess what?! It's going to get even better :)
We will be hosting a local college station tennis tournament from February 1st-2nd at A&M Consolidated High School. There will be a small sign up fee, but it is open for everyone to play (members, non-members, high school, students, parents, etc..). If you haven't played in a TOC tournament yet and want to play in sectionals (more details about sectionals will come soon), this is a great way to become eligible for sectionals. There will be singles, doubles, mixed doubles, and you can get the full details in the sign up link below. There is no "level" cutoff, so tell your friends and parents and professors and pets to sign up, it will be fun! Winning individuals/teams will also get a prize :)

Cheers,
Sujay
