Practice, Elections, Men's/Women's Varsity

Howdy Ags!

Practice tomorrow night from 8-11pm at the Intramural Courts.  Remember that not this weekend, but next weekend, we will be having our intra-club singles tourney for those of ya'll that wanna earn some bragging rights.  These tourneys are always a lot of fun and best of all, we will more than likely get to play on the varsity courts.  Also, in the spirit of all this campaign season, tomorrow night is your last chance to enter the running for an officer position.  The executive officer positions (prez, vice-prez, treasurer, and secretary) will be elected by a majority vote next week, and the other positions will be selected once the executive positions are set.  For a complete description of each position and its responsibilities, see the file I have attached to this email.

There are still spots available for you to be considered for.  So, I highly encourage anyone that is interested in helping make this club the best tennis club in the entire nation to apply to be an officer.  I can tell you that being an officer this year has been nothing but a blast.  Our tennis club is really laid back and easy going, it also helps that we kinda beat the hell outta everyone in the state (and nation).  So, if you're passionate about tennis and want to get more involved in tennis at A&M please consider being an officer and contributing to this awesome organization.  Don't do it to pad your resume or anything like that, do it because you truly care about tennis and this club.

Also, men's varsity match vs. Tech on Friday at 6pm and women's vs. Mizzou at noon on Saturday. Be there.

Thanks and Gig 'Em!

Election sign-ups, practice

So I don't know what everybody else did around lunch time today, but Ana, Megan, Alyx, and I sun-waxed a whole set of wood patio furniture next to the pool and hot tub after dusting the first story window blinds, while the rest of our team was busy sweeping out the 3 car garage, planting shrubbery, and raking the front yard of this two-story residence for BE.

Until Wed night, we will be accepting entries to run or apply to be an officer of the Tennis Club next year. The election will be held Sun-Wed of next week. Attached is a list of the positions and prescribed duties. Executive positions are elected by majority vote, while the non-executive positions are chosen by the newly elected executives. Reply back with your name and position(s) you wish to run for. You may run for as many spots as you like. Standard university officer position rules apply.

Its looking to be an excellent day in the neighborhood for practice tomorrow (4-7p).

David

Practice, Tourneys, Big Event

Howdy Ags!

I hope all of ya'll had a safe and fun-filled Spring Break.  I spent my break skiing in New Mexico, chilling by the pool, and making fajitas.  Hopefully all of ya'll have slept off the hangovers and are ready to get back into the swing of tennis club.  Even though we have already passed Sectionals, we still have alot going on.  I hope to see alot of ya'll out there at practice.  Anyways...

Practice tomorrow night from 8-11pm at the intramural courts.  We have a couple of intra-club tournaments coming up in April for those of ya'll that wanna win some A&M Tennis Club Bragging Rights.  April 11th will be our singles tournament, and April 25th will be our doubles tournament.  We will have more info on how to sign up and whatnot later, but just keep those dates in mind.  Also, this Saturday is the Big Event.  If you signed up with me, you have to be at Reed Arena on Saturday morning.  I have more information on the BIg Event later for those of you that signed up.  If you have any questions regarding the Big Event, email me at jbrow7@gmail.com.

O, and be sure to wish Sir Elton John happy birthday tomorrow...he's turning a faaaaaabulous 62.

Thanks and Gig 'Em!

Practice, Spring Break, Big Event, Varsity-ness, Chuck Norris

Howdy Ags!

Practice tomorrow night from 8-11pm at the intramural courts.  This will be our last practice until we get back from Spring Break on March 25th.  Also remember that the first Saturday after we get back from Spring Break is Big Event (March 28th), so if you signed up to do it with us be sure to keep that in your plans.  There's a Fightin' Texas Aggie Women's Tennis match on Thursday night at 5pm versus Texas Tech, and Fightin' Texas Aggie Men's Tennis match on Friday night at 6pm versus Ohio State.  There will probably be a couple of club members out there, so stop by and support our varsity teams.

Also, tomorrow is Chuck Norris' birthday, so in memory of his entrance into the world (Chuck Norris wasn't born, he roundhouse kicked his way out of his mother's womb) I invite all of ya'll to come out to club and DO IT BIG, just like Chuck (Chuck Norris can win a game in tennis in only three points).  Because it is Chuck Norris' birthday, I am going to stress consistency at tomorrow's practice (Chuck Norris is the only person to beat a wall at tennis).  This is also a great day for Derek Bruner, because he can finally come to realization of the limitations of his abilities (Chuck Norris is the only person not to get aced by me).  So grab your racket, come out to club, and try to be a little more like Chuck (even though that's impossible).

Thanks and Gig 'Em!
